Chapter Overview
The Ventura Chapter of the Southern California
Soccer Referees Association serves members and leagues in the Ventura and Santa
Barbara areas. Our members referee USSF affiliated
games for the Coast Soccer League, Youth Tournaments sanctioned by California
Youth Soccer Association-South, and the Tri-Counties Men's League. We are always in need of new and seasoned
referees. General membership meetings
are held the third Thursday of every month.

Membership Meeting Notice
General Information
General
membership meetings are normally held regularly on the third Thursday of each
month. Meetings are held at the Ventura Adult Education Center at 5200 Valentine Road in Ventura. The Education Center is located on the
frontage road on the south side of the Ventura Freeway in Ventura, between the
Victoria Ave. and Telephone Road exits.

Each grade 8 referee is
required to attend a minimum of 5 hours of training each year to qualify for
recertification for the next year.
Referees that are Grade 5 through Grade 7 are required to attend 10
hours of training per year. Each
SCSRA-Ventura meeting satisfies one hour towards required training.
Cal South has
established minimum training requirements per year to ensure that recertifying
referees our referees are current with the latest trends in game management as
well as the latest changes to and interpretations of the Laws of the Game. Training session materials will include US
Soccer directives, memorandums, position papers, and recent amendments to the
Laws of the Game.
Attendance is recorded
at each meeting to document each referee’s training credit. We need to know your USSF ID number to ensure
that you can get this credit. If you are
a member of our organization we ask that you include your USSF number in your
personal information within Arbiter.
Enter your USSF ID number in the “Official Number” slot on your personal
information page in Arbiter. Only
designated board members and assignors have access to this information. Visiting referees should bring their USSF ID
card to the meeting so they can include their number on the attendance sheet
that is then forwarded to Cal South where all So Cal training records are
maintained.

Upcoming USSF Grade 8 Entry Level Clinics
Entry level referees need to take and pass a 2 day
entry level clinic to before they can be assigned games through our
association. Participants attending this clinic will receive a 2011 badge
that will enable them to referee games from the date of the clinic through the
end of the 2011 season. Interested
individuals should register and pay for clinics at Cal
South Clinic Registration Web Page. Information on what to bring
to the clinic can be found there.
Granada Hills, CA, July
24th and 25th
The Valley Referee Association will be sponsoring this
clinic. The clinic will be held at their meeting hall in Granada Hills Town Hall. E-mail the coordinator Mark Hager

Santa Barbara, CA, August 7th
and 8th
SCSRA-Ventura will be sponsoring this clinic. The clinic will be held at their meeting hall
in Santa Barbara. The cost of the clinic is $65. The
location has not been selected. E-mail

Oxnard, CA, August 28th
and 29th
SCSRA-Ventura will be sponsoring this clinic.
The clinic will be held at Oxnard Community College. The cost of the clinic is $65. The room number has not been determined. E-mail the coordinator Luis Gutierrez for more

Upcoming 2011 Recertification & Upgrade Clinics

The cost of recertification clinics is $25,
which covers the cost of registration materials and administration of the
test. Attendees need to pre-register and
pay for the clinic with Cal South before attending a clinic. Registration instructions can be found on the
Cal
South Training Clinic Web Page.
Follow the instructions at the top of the web page to access the clinic
schedule and registration pages. You can
then select the clinic you want to register for by following the instructions
at the web site. Contact Cal South or a Board Member if
you have any questions.
At the completion of the class you have the
option to pay your 2011 registration fee to the instructor. The 2011 fee schedule for USSF registration
is:

Grade 7: $50
·
Grades 6 & 5: $80
AYSO to USSF Cross Over Certification
AYSO referees do not need to take the entry level
clinic if they qualify. Information for
cross certification from AYSO to USSF can be found on the Cal South Cross
Certification Web Page. Our

2010 SCSOA (High School) Certification
The certification and recertification clinics
will again be held again during the month of October 2010. Stay tuned for the complete schedule with the
dates and all of the requirements. The first membership meeting is tentatively
scheduled for Monday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the
Ventura County Star.
For those taking the PFT through AYSO, USSF
and/or NISOA, please make sure to have a copy ready to be submitted to the
Director of Instruction during the clinics. Attached I am sending the PFT Form
for those completing it through NISOA. Have it completed and signed by the
NISOA Instructor.

Announcements
Cal South RM
Approval Now Required for all Youth Matches
All adult referees are
now required to be “RM (Risk Management) Approved” by Cal South before being assigned
youth matches through U19 within Cal South.
Adult
referees have 90 days following their 18th birthday to be Risk
Management Approved through Cal South.
If you are already registered with Cal South your approval status is
included in the current registered officials
list, available for download at the Cal South web site.
You
will not be assigned youth matches until your name is listed as “RM Approved”
in the registration list posted on Cal South. Members are encouraged to
initiate the approval process well ahead of any matches to which they plan to
be assigned to avoid any difficulties.

Members with questions regarding their game assignments are asked to
contact our assignor, Ian Anderson. Try
to work any issues out with him first before contacting our Standards Chair,
